Recently interior designer Laura Stephens approached us to produce two Made to Order rugs: Seville and Nimbus, for a client's home in East London. These two rugs are hand-knotted in Nepal from 100% New Zealand wool. Each rug is completely made by hand making each one unique. Laura's speciality as an interior designer is to work closely with clients to create the perfect room for them, bringing her understanding of colour, pattern and texture to every project.
Laura's client wanted some ideas to breathe some new life and colour into her living room. The client had some vintage-style pieces as well as fantastic original features such as the cornicing, fireplaces and radiators, so a look was devised in keeping with this theme. The final outcome of the project demonstrates that perfectly: the subtle colours and contrasting patterns helps to create a fresh, inviting and modern feel to this spacious reception room.
After choosing colours from our Pom-Pom Sample Box, Laura used the colour palette to match the wallpaper and rest of the scheme from the chosen Teal, Chartreuse and Stone. Meanwhile, we art-worked Laura's rug design in her chosen colours and proceeded to have her rugs handmade to her size specification. Once complete, the rugs were shipped directly to the client's house.
"I wanted to totally juxtapose the wallpaper with a graphic rug design to keep the room from looking too traditional, bring in colour and give it a contemporary edge."
Of our service, Laura also said: "We thought the Made to Order service was great. It was invaluable to get the samples, I would always do that again and I very much appreciated the colour images we received to give us a proper sense of what the rugs would look like. Finally, my client was delighted with the finished rugs and they brought the whole scheme together."
