Bone inlay work and handpainted work is are cottage industries of Rajasthan. Traditionally this craft would have used ivory. One bone inlaid chest of drawers requires several thousand bone pieces and takes about a month to make. A team of craft people work on each item.
All the bone used in our furniture is camel bone procured from reliable sources, for each shipment we have to get a wild life certificate from the government prior to shipping. We can’t send even one knob of bone inlay in any shipment without it. The bone is collected form camels that have died of natural causes.
