Introducing ceramicist Paige Mitchell

Supporting independent makers

Almost seven years in, Paige Mitchell has created her own distinctive pottery brand where design and functionality meet beautifully. Her work is inspired from her passions spanning gardening, sketchbook drawing, and wheel thrown and hand-built ceramics. Along with dachshunds Rickley and Henry, the 30-year old, who gained a first class in illustration, spends time in her studio tucked away in the eaves of Elm, her independently run art and design store in Norwich. Sitting at the wheel, glazing and firing ceramics, Paige hand crafts every delectable piece.

For indoor and outdoor use, her terracotta plant pots with a frilly rim have endured quite a process to get to look as pretty as they are including hand-thrown on the wheel, stamped and fired in a single 1080 degree firing; their saucers brushed with a water repellent coating after emerging from the kiln.

Each of Paige Mitchell’s pieces reflects the time and care invested in her craft. Her honey-glazed stoneware dish, with its hand-painted harlequin pattern, combines purpose with thoughtful design. The result is an artfully finished piece made to be durable and distinctive.
